Senior Living Amenities: Santa Approved
Santa Claus perfectly represents the ideal senior living resident. After polishing off his milk and cookies, he’s ready for health coaching, telehealth appointments, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with plenty of dining options to satisfy every craving. He also appreciates a pet-friendly community that would welcome his reindeer, business and technology amenities to keep him connected to the North Pole and children around the world, and convenient sleigh parking. What amenity would Santa love the best at your community? Like many prospective residents, he’s looking to check all the boxes. Pi Architects can make sure your community stays on the “nice” list this year with our master planning, repositioning, and interior design services.
Health and wellness amenities. Santa is ready to balance his cookie indulgence with support from health coaches, telehealth, and a fitness center. He’s also looking for healthcare suites for physician visits and preventive care. With dining options that promote healthy eating, while leaving room for a few well-earned treats, like an occasional happy hour or glass of wine.
Pet-friendly campus. Santa plans to bring Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer with him, so he wants a property with onsite stables or local access to them where he can see his team when he wants and take them for an occasional ride…say, sometime in December. Amenities such as on-site riding trails, pet grooming facilities, vet visits, dog parks, and more attract pet owners like Santa who want a place that welcomes pets as part of the community.
Business and work amenities. Santa may be older and slowing down a bit, but he’s still working. Mr. Claus would want amenities such as space for an office in his home/apartment, reliable high-speed internet, a business center where he can get supplies and print documents, conference rooms he can use for meetings and videoconferences, and a mail center where he can send packages and receive a high volume of letters from children all over the world.
Intergenerational living. Santa is concerned about leaving his elves behind. He would like the team leaders to live nearby and others to visit frequently. An intergenerational community where the elves would be welcome and have access to the amenities would be a pleasure. An apartment or home with a guest room or on-site guest suites available for visitors would be an ideal perk.
Learning opportunities. Santa always wants to learn about new technology that can make his business more productive and profitable, which makes his life easier. He wants a community that has partnerships with one or more local colleges/universities, so he has access to classes, experts, and other learners.
Grooming services. An on-site barber to keep his beard trimmed and laundry services to keep his red suit clean will make Santa’s life easier.
Convenient parking and transportation. Santa needs a secure space to keep his sleigh, but he also needs a way to get around town (it’s murder finding street parking for the sleigh). Shuttle vans, transportation services, walkability, and easy access to public transportation are on Santa’s wish list.
